Myers averages 18.4 points, 10.8 rebounds and four blocks per game for the top-ranked Douglas Tigers. He committed to Harvard in October and is the first Northern Nevadan nominated as a McDonald’s All-American since Galena’s Luke Babbitt in 2008.

The commitment Myers gave Harvard coach Tommy Amaker came in October.

“I just loved being on the campus. It felt homey and I felt very comfortable there and with the other guys on the team,” Myers said of his official visit to Harvard.

Myers took official visits to Harvard and Stanford. His final two schools on a list of more then 20 scholarship offers.

“When I got back, I just sat on it for 48 hours,” Myers said. “It came down to how I felt at each school. Harvard was relaxed and I felt comfortable. Stanford felt busy and rushed.”

Myers’ commitment concluded a sort of whirlwind year for the two-time member of the RGJ’s All-North team. Myers has just one offer, from Nevada, before last season started. But the list of interested schools quickly grew, especially after a stellar spring playing for the Nevada Wolverines club team.

Myers had over 20 offers, which he whittled to six — Harvard, Stanford, Cal, Lehigh, Princeton and Santa Barbara — at the end of the summer. That list then became the final two that he visited.

After Myers let Amaker, the former Michigan coach, know of his decision, he did the same for the other five finalists.

“It’s amazing to look back and be able to go through this process,” Myers said. “But to have it over with is a little weight lifted off my shoulders. I wanted to get it over with before the season started so I can just play.”

Myers joins the list of Former Nevada Wolverines players to play college basketball:
